Multiple Sports Storage Created for High School Athletics Department
02 Jul 2018
The athletics department at the Lawrenceburg High School in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, needed a better way to store gear for multiple sports, so the department jumped at the chance to re-think their storage soon after an addition was built onto the existing high school. They contacted their local Spacesaver representative, who visited the school to look at the space, gain a more thorough understanding of their storage needs, and show them photos of other schools’ storage solutions.
The end result is a secure and efficient space, and the multi-sport storage area has become such a point of pride that it’s now featured on school tours.
One of the top priorities for coaches and team managers was security. Although theft at the school generally wasn’t a problem, they knew from experience that items could sometimes “disappear” when someone urgently needed an item that was in short supply in their team’s storage area. As a result of those experiences, the coaches and managers wanted separate locking sections for each sport so they would always know exactly what their teams had on hand.
The Spacesaver consultant suggested a compact mobile system with 4-Post shelving outfitted with accessories to maximize the space. Basketballs, for instance, are stored in custom bins derived from Spacesaver’s bin supports, and gravity-fed items like socks and sweatbands are stored and distributed via unique dividers. Every open shelving face is secured with locking tambour doors, providing coaches and managers with peace of mind. For more information on this installation and others, please contact us today!
